The Slug and Lettuce ★★★★★

I have to admit as soon as I'd heard of the Slug and Lettuce it didn't sound so appealing, picturing an image in my head of a plate arriving at the table with a slug on the corner. Don't let the strange, yet interesting name fool you into thinking this isn't a good restaurant however, because I can confidently say this is one of the best restaurants I've been to and that's why I have given it a 5 star rating. Not only is this sophisticated place a restaurant but also a bar as people gather for the end of work drinks during the evening. The music taste of smooth indie rock and pop jamming in the background really adds to the chilled out atmosphere as people stare in awe at the impressive cocktails frothy layers. I went with a group of uni friends and with 7 of us there it was a night I really enjoyed!

With cheeky cocktails at 2 for £8 you can't really say no, after all you can never have too many cosmopolitans. I was absolutely spoilt for choice with the drinks menu that when the waitress came to take my order I just had to lucky dip which 2nd cocktail I'd choose (which was a Strawberry Woo Woo, and probably the best lucky dip choice I made, heaven). Now that the table had embraced several shades of pink it was time to order the main. At a respectful £9.95 I ordered the Italian chicken which came with a tasty garlic sauce, peppers and potato wedges. However, this dish looked more than just chicken and chips towered on top of each other, it resembled a work of art, something I actually felt bad starting for ruining the inviting beauty of the dish. A toilet break later and with the cocktails having only a sip left at the bottom of the glasses it seemed time to order the dessert, and again at 2 for 1 it only came to around £2. Now, we all know the deal with deserts at restaurants, charging an expensive price for one scoop of ice cream and a tiny piece of cake that could probably last only two mouthfuls. But not at The Slug and Lettuce, no Sir. Placed in front of me was a piping hot bowl of delicious chocolate sponge with a generous dollop of ice cream.

This meal truly had me filled to the brim, but after forcing the last mouthfuls of chocolate down me I really felt I had got my moneys worth. Walking away only £20 sorter I felt I'd ran away without paying the full amount, as though I'd just stolen a precious stone from a jewellery store, but no it really was that cheap! This is one of the very few restaurants that have impressed me so much that I've already planned 2 more meals with friends and flatmates these next 2 coming weeks.

With a round of beer pong later, shots of vodka and a hangover that lasted throughout the whole night, I'd honestly do it all over again! But what did you expert from a University Student living in a city.
